Hey you. Thanks for coming through.
At HISTOIRE COMMUNE (HC), we take your privacy seriously. We're a small team (sometimes just one person and a few digital friends), and we know what it’s like to feel unsure about handing over personal info online. So here’s a clear, no-fluff breakdown of how we collect, use, and respect your data.
If you ever have questions, reach out at admin@histoirecommune.com.
1. WHO WE ARE
HISTOIRE COMMUNE (HC) is a creative brand rooted in storytelling, community, and cultural expression. We're based in the Netherlands, and our website is hosted on a secure e-commerce platform that lets us focus more on crafting meaningful things and less on sketchy data practices.
2. What We Collect (and Why)
When you interact with our site, we may collect:
+ Personal Info: Name, email address, shipping address, phone number. This helps us ship your order and respond to your questions.
+ Order Details: What you buy and how you pay (see Stripe below).Device Info: Browser type, IP address, and location. This helps us troubleshoot and improve your experience.
+ Newsletter Signup: If you join our mailing list, we save your name and email to send you updates.
We collect this info so we can:
+ Fulfill your orders
+ Respond to customer service requests
+ Keep in touch with updates, if you’ve opted in
+ Prevent fraud or abuse on our site
+ Improve the way the site works and feels
3. Payments
All payments are processed securely through Stripe, our payment provider. This means your credit card details are never stored on our servers. Stripe uses industry-standard encryption and security protocols.
If you're curious about how Stripe handles your data, check their Privacy Policy here.
4. Newsletters & Emails
Trust us, we hate spam just as much as you do. If you sign up for our newsletter, you’ll receive occasional updates about what we’re up to. We’re building a village, and that includes sharing invites to exclusive manifestations (just a fancy way of saying events or gatherings). But we’ll never flood your inbox or sell your info.
You can unsubscribe at any time with one simple click. No guilt.
5. Cookies
Our website uses basic cookies to make things smoother. These small data files help remember your cart, your preferences, and how you browse the site.
By using the site, you consent to the use of cookies. You can clear or disable them anytime in your browser settings if you'd prefer a crumb-free experience.
6. Third-Party Tools
Besides Stripe for payments, we may use tools like:
+ Analytics to understand how people use the site
+ Email platforms for newsletters
+ Embedded content (videos, maps, social feeds)
We choose our partners carefully and aim to keep things transparent. Once you leave our site, we can’t control how those platforms handle data, so it’s a good idea to check their policies too.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data, including HTTPS encryption and platform-level safeguards. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is 100 percent secure. We always encourage you to keep your login info private.
8. Your Rights
If you’re in the EU, you have the right to:
+ Access your personal data
+ Correct or delete your info
+ Withdraw consent for communication
+ File a complaint with your local data authority
Need help with any of this? Just email us at admin@histoirecommune.com and we’ll take care of it.
9. AI & Image Transparency 🤖
Let’s talk about the digital magic behind some of the visuals on our site.
Yes, we use AI-generated models in some of our product photography. Meet Koffi, Bart, and Zoey. They’re not real people, but they help bring our designs to life when real-world shoots aren’t always possible. We like to think of them as part of the team. They’re here to help paint you a picture.
Feel free to say hi. They’ve helped us share the spirit of our collections when resources are tight and creativity is high.
Here’s what you should know:
+ These visuals are for illustrative purposes
+ Colors, textures, and fit may vary slightly in real life
+ We’ll always be clear when AI imagery is used
+ We never use AI to make decisions about your rights or data
We believe in transparency, creativity, and using every tool we can to tell our stories responsibly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may (probably will continue to) update this page from time to time. If anything major changes, we’ll do our best to let you know either on the site or by email if you're subscribed.

We collect only what we need to provide you with a smooth experience: your contact info, shipping address, and payment details, all handled with care and transparency. You can read the full Privacy Policy here.
We have used AI to help illustrate some of our creative visuals, particularly for our digital models: Koffi, Bart, and Zoey. These characters help us express the vibe and storytelling behind our products when physical photoshoots are not feasible. They are part of our extended team, and we think they are doing a pretty great job. All AI content is used solely for illustrative purposes and is transparently labeled. We do not use AI for decision-making or personal profiling.
Yes. Most of our collections are intentionally limited in quantity. Once a product is sold out, it’s unlikely to return; though exceptions might be made per case (so don’t hesitate to reach out). The idea is to keep each piece special and rooted in its moment.
Q: Why do you only ship once a week?
We’re a small team doing things mindfully. Weekly shipping helps us stay intentional about resources and reduce unnecessary logistics waste.
We ensure the stories we tell come from or are shaped alongside the people they represent. Second, we aim to co-design or produce portions of each collection in collaboration with artisans or creatives from that community. This approach supports visibility, creative exchange, and local investment. It is a work in progress, but the ecosystem is growing with each release.
Bruh, what's the rush? Lol Each collection is crafted with intention, and we want to respect the time it takes to do it right, especially when it involves real people, places, and history.
Yes,absolutely. These stories belong to all of us. Wearing a piece is a way of honoring and amplifying a narrative that may not be your own and that’s a powerful form of connection.
Some are, some are not. When our budget or timeline makes traditional photography a stretch, we use AI to help us visualize certain characters. These muses have become part of the story, and you’ll likely spot them right away: Koffi, Bart, and Zoey. They’re fictional, yes, but they’re very much part of the Histoire Commune family. Don’t be shy, say hi when you spot them.
Why even ask? This is exactly why we do what we do. We are always open to authentic partnerships. Whether you are an artist, craftsperson, or creative thinker with a story to share, feel free to reach out to us at admin@histoirecommune.com.
So many ways. You can:
